Real Life 101 - Level 1
Our level 1 beginner class is for all ages of dogs and puppies, with no or very little, previous obedience training.
Level 1 classes focus on two areas:
Manners and Obedience: Beginner dogs will learn basic obedience commands with an emphasis on those most often used in real life and not in the show-ring. On-leash socialization is also a part of the class. Some of the things you and your dog will learn are:
- To come when called no matter what
- Settling down on command
- Sit politely for greeting
- Walk nicely on the leash without pulling
- How to get and hold the dog's attention with eye contact
- To stay still on command
- Basic positions 'sit,' 'down,' and 'stand'
Behaviour Problem Solving: We will work to fix behaviour problems like jumping up, chewing, barking, shyness/fearfulness etc. You will also learn how to have you dog accept grooming and nail clipping sessions will little protest. Some exercises will be practiced in class, others will be discussed in class and practiced at home.
