Real Life 101 - Level 1
Our level 1 beginner class is for all ages of dogs and puppies, with no or very little, previous obedience training. The main focus of Flying Dog classes is teaching good manners. Behaviour problem prevention is also addressed and puppies and dogs are given time to socialize.
Manners and Obedience: Beginner dogs and puppies will learn basic obedience commands with an emphasis on those most often used in real life and not in the show-ring. On-leash socialization is also a fun part of the class. Some of the things you and your dog will learn are:
- To come when called no matter what
- Settling down on command
- Sit politely for greeting
- Walk nicely on the leash without pulling
- How to get and hold the dog's attention with eye contact
- To stay still on command
- Basic positions 'sit,' 'down,' and 'stand'
Behaviour Problem Solving: We will work to fix behaviour problems like jumping up, chewing, barking, etc. Some exercises will be practiced in class, others will be discussed in class and practiced at home.
